Cynthia Burkhour is a parent whose daughter attends a typical summer camp. In this article she suggests ways of finding a camp that will welcome a child with disability. She also offers suggestions as to how to prepare camp staff, advising parents to be open and honest about their child's strengths and limitations. Burkhour uses her daughter Erin's experience to show how preparations and creative problem solving meant that Erin was included as an equal partner in the whole camp experience.
