Medical Professionals at Risk: Doctor's Developmental Disability Discrimination Disorder

Written Material

This satirical article carries a sombre message of warning. It describes 'D5, 'a dangerous and previously unclassified disorder' which 'attacks medical professionals'. Many parents will recognise D5 in the examples given - D5 manifests itself in medical professionals who ignore parents' well-founded concerns about their child and who treat people with disabilities as inferior beings not worthy of proper attention. The implications of this 'disorder' for people with disabilities and their families are profound. Keywords: Families, Health. Searchword: Ethics
