Being done “(un)to” or not!!!

This inspirational paper traces Mike’s journey and quest for independence. After voluntarily admitting himself to an institution, he participated in the ‘Demonstration Project’, a trial of a supported accommodation program for people with disability, which encourages self-management of support needs. Mike was a founder of Lifestyle Options Inc. (LOI), a Queensland organisation that supports people with disability to empower themselves and live independently. He reflects on his triumphs, internal struggles and dreams of self-determination for people with disability.
