Home – one of the four cornerstones

Uditsky makes a distinction between community living and community inclusion. Whereas community living is about placement, services, grouping and ‘plans’, community inclusion is about family, home, friends and membership. He then goes on to elaborate one of these – the concept of ‘home’, what it is and what it means to all people. He argues that families and professionals can work together to find out how to support people in a home, but that the role of professionals must be re-created in a new ethic and commitment to the concept of a real home.
