Recreation Options: Integration Opportunities for People with Intellectual Disabilities

This information kit was part of the Recreation Options Project implemented by AAMR. The primary aim of the Project was to encourage and support the development of community based recreation opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities, with this kit providing practical approaches to integration and a variety of different program ideas. This kit is quite old, and there is more up to date information on our book shelves, but it provides some excellent pointers on how to get started, what Australian organisations are around, and the basics about buddy programs, holidays and camping. Use this kit as a starting point, or a vehicle to develop some initial ideas about inclusive recreation. Keyword: Social Activities
