Reflections on Inclusive Education

Fr. Patrick Mackan worked with Jack Pearpoint, Marsha Forest and Judith Snow at the Centre for Integrated Education and Community (see other books of theirs in this collection). This is a book of his reflections and stories written before he died in 1990, and they really do make the reader think. He writes at the beginning, “Parent’s stories about their children with disabilities challenged me as an educator and priest to re-think the place of school and church in our lives. Their stories led me to seeing school and church as inclusive communities where each belongs….The reflections are mine and come from the conviction I have that friendship, hospitality and welcoming must be the forces that will call our schools and churches to become places of belonging.” Keyword: Inclusion Searchword: Education
