Remembering the Soul of Our Work: Stories by the Staff of Options in Community Living

The agency, Options in Community Living is a “supported living” agency. Their book includes stories by staff which show the human side of supporting people in the community – the joys, the frustrations, the victories, the dilemmas. The stories highlight how necessary whole of life experiences are for people with disabilities, the consequences of the wounding they experience, and that people have the right to dignity of risk, choice, respect and community life. The importance of helping staff find meaning in their work and their making of long term commitments to people is discussed, and the book will provide families with a worker’s perspective.
