Book

Teaching for Human Rights

This book is about human rights. It contains a wide range of activities that focus upon our fundamental rights and responsibilities as human beings. The book can be treated as a whole course for students but is equally useful if singular ideas are taken from it. There are ten human rights issue areas chosen for study including: human rights and the law, life, freedom of conscience, opinion and expression, racism and sexism, the family, education, economic, cultural and social well being. The author asserts that the book is the first step in a curriculum development process that will eventually help teachers get beyond just the development of language and numeracy skills. Keywords: Ethics, Education, School age
