Fear for sale

David Hevey is a photographer and author of the book, The Creatures Time Forgot (Routledge, 1992). He highlights the negative images created by charity fundraising, the unconsciousness into which the charities tap, and the stereotypes they create in their sometimes unsuccessful attempts to raise money. He emphasises the ways in which the images create dependency and contends that charities promote “a brand to buy your distance from”. His book can be found on our shelves (File No. 3147). Keywords: Attitudes, Social Role Valorisation
