Inclusion is Happening…WHERE?

This article gives an overview of the evolution of inclusive education in Vietnam and discusses the reasons why inclusion education is gaining momentum there. Over 800 students with mild, moderate, and significant disabilities are successfully included in two northern Vietnamese districts – inclusive education models exist in 51 of the 61 Vietnamese provinces. The author cites the experiences of two students to show the positive impact of inclusive education on their lives (and the lives of their families). He stresses the importance of maintaining the progress that has been made, overcoming the barriers and extending inclusive educational opportunities throughout the country.
