My world now: Life in a nursing home, from the inside

This article is extremely powerful for one main reason. It is written by an ‘insider’ about her life experiences within this service system. From this perspective it is incredibly ‘human’ and it exposes the reality of much of what SRV theory explicates – especially the notion of ‘heightened vulnerability’ and the ‘wounding life experiences’ of such vulnerable and devalued people. It is also a powerful example of what can happen to vulnerable people if advocates, family, friends and advocacy organisations are not continually vigilant in their roles/work. Keyword: Social Role Valorisation
