Does she boil eggs? Towards a feminist model of disability

Written Material

"Even if we can't lift an egg (it is assumed that) we can boil an egg". This quote is used to encapsulate the discrimination which women with disabilities experience as both people with physical and intellectual disabilities and as women. With this marginalisation from both movements in mind (the feminist and disability movement) the author draws on the history of black feminism as a new framework in which women can explore their simultaneous experience of both gender and disability.
