Lives of great value

This paper is a response to the "Discussion paper on the ethics of limiting life sustaining treatment" by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NH&MRC) (File number 10338). The various organisations believe the NH&MRC assumes that disability in itself makes a life of low quality and value and therefore can often justify a decision that an infant should die. The paper quotes from various Declaration of Rights principles and rejects any notion that society should approve of the killing of infants even if future quality of life may be an issue.
