This qualitative study was undertaken in a junior high school which implemented a student aide program to facilitate the inclusion of students with moderate and severe disabilities. It outlines the philosophy, planning process and development of the program and identifies a range of roles undertaken by the student aides. The study shows the outcomes for the students with disabilities as well as the participating nondisabled students as well as identifying implications for practice and future research.
